  Education Policies
Policy Director for Educational Affairs
Kazuhiro Sotoyama

My name is Ichihiro Sotoyama, the new Policy Director for Educational Affairs for fiscal 2002. Having had a wonderful and valuable experience in last year's education cooperative project, I would also this year like to broaden Tokyo JC's education policies by binding together our policies and campaign development.

This financial year I would like to develop the education cooperative projects of 'regional community training' and 'school oasis promotion' and a campaign that establishes a motivated citizens' society unique to Tokyo JC at the October regular meeting. Thank you.

- Promotion of mutual understanding at the municipal and citizen level in the Asia-Pacific region -
Through close exchanges at the municipal level with mainly East Asian countries, Tokyo JC has become one of the avenues for members to access the world and train to become an 'individual, international citizen who can respect and adopt differences while asserting one's own views'. Topics are varied and include politics, economics, education, and the environment, but the purpose is for each of us to be representatives of Japan. I look forward to discussions together on internationalization.

  Economic Policies
Policy Director for Economic Affairs
Yoshitake Shibusawa

In the precious years of the thirties, when one's economic activities expand the most, it is hoped that one will think of Japan as a nation as well as one's own business prosperity, and help build a healthy and truly prosperous nation with a balance of personal profit and public good.
Through the Junior Chamber, I have had many instances of having to ponder ways of viewing things and ways of viewing the nation. Now, as a director, I would like to utilize these thoughts for JC activities for the public good, with youthfulness and courage so as to leave no room for regrets. I will also involve myself in activities with conviction, bearing in mind the contribution I can make to the reorganization of Japan, which is rapidly changing, and the organizational restructuring of the appealing Tokyo JC.

  Welfare Policies
Policy Director for Welfare Affairs
Koji Naito

It is thought that if Koizumi reforms advance and market principles are introduced into the social system, consideration of things from a welfare viewpoint will become more and more important. This year, I will focus on the new concept of universal design and try and attract a greater number of motivated citizens to tackle the problem of welfare with an awareness of the relevant people. This is a role far beyond my abilities, so I am constantly anxious and nervous. However, because this will be my last year in JC, I will try my utmost so as to leave no regrets. I therefore kindly ask for your cooperation.

  Environmental Policies
Policy Director for Environmental Affairs
Masaru Ogawa

The 21st century is the age of the environment. I believe we should seriously tackle more this issue as business people and as motivated citizens. This year should be a year to rekindle this. On March 12, a regular meeting titled Environment, Economics, and Internationalization will be held.

From March 22 we will also cooperate on International Contribution 2002 in China. We will concentrate on projects in the first half of the year, so we will be in top gear from the start of the year. I look forward to your support.

  Political and Administrative Policies
Policy Director for Political & Administrative Affairs
Hidetoshi Yamaoka

I think it is essential to convene different types of public discussions for promoting the active participation in politics and administration by whipping up civic awareness and putting in place a policy-guided society. We are earnestly endeavoring to have the Policy Committee shoulder a role as a think tank of Tokyo JC, embark on proper policies, and enable the ward committees to develop campaigns based on such policies. I therefore kindly ask for your assistance and cooperation with these endeavors.
