Education and Welfare Policies Shinji Ikeda Policy Director for Educational & Welfare Affairs In terms of education policies we will aim to construct an education system that geducates people to be responsible for the Japan of tomorrowh, continue to test the educational reforms currently progressing, pursue an optimal balance of gindividualh and gsocietyh, and propose concrete policies. In terms of welfare policies, the simple and fair systematization of a social security system that has become complicated due to arbitrary applications will test the essential steps towards a democratic society. Economic and Environmental Policies Shinichiro Kodama Policy Director for Economic & Environmental Affairs My name is Shinichiro Kodama and I am in charge of economic and environmental policies. A new light is needed now that the economic outlook is far from bright. As a young economist from Tokyo JC I intend to propose policies based on a bold perspective to create new economic demand. In terms of the environment, we are awaiting the death of mankind if mass consumption continues at the present rate. Political and Administrative Policies Masaru Ogawa Policy Director for Political & Administrative Affairs My name is Masaru Ogawa and I am in charge of political and administrative policies. I look forward to working with you all over the next year. As everybody is well aware, politics in Japan is becoming more and more bewildering. The Tokyo Junior Chamber will this year conduct public debates for mayoral and gubernatorial elections of Tokyo with the aim of realizing politics with policy standards and constructing a democratically led societal system by independent citizens. International Policies Tetsuya Oishi Policy Director for International Affairs My name is Tetsuya Ooishi and I have been made responsible for international affairs at Tokyo Junior Chamber for fiscal 2003. I will be acting as an individual Japanese who has Japanfs future and the national interest in mind amidst kaleidoscopic changes in international affairs.
